Ace Skwal

I became totally hooked on snowboarding in the mid 2000's. I eventually ended up picking up a skwal after getting back into alpine snowboarding and found that the skwal market was very minimal and mostly located in Europe. This led me to start playing around with my own skwal board designs and by 2010 I was in so deep I was making my own equipment to start making boards.

I built a press out of scrap beams and made my own heat blankets and control box. Bladder is made from fire hose. I acquired a custom CNC machine from a ski builder that I have setup and is controlled via a Raspberry Pi 4.

I ended up pressing 2 boards that were learning experiences, so not much worth showing off at this stage of the game build-wise. The board pictured below was my second pressing. Aspen core with polyurethane poured sidewalls. 19oz TRIAX - Entropy SuperSAP resin. I didn't have a proper cassette made up so the core shifted big time and I was rushing the entire build process. Lesson learned

I am currently getting everything set back up in another space and aim to have some boards pressed by the end of the summer.
