Grindrite ST2000 J2 Restoration

A few years ago I was fortunate to locate an old Grindrite ST2000 J2 machine on Facebook Marketplace for a couple hundred bucks. After restoring the paint work and bearing replacement I went to work on sorting the electrical issues. I needed to replace some rotten proximity sensors and connectors as well as a smashed emergency stop. After sorting all that out the machine still wouldn't turn over. After reaching out to the Wintersteiger tech they provided some information to help ensure the motor controller was programmed correctly. My machine was sitting for so long that it needed to be reprogrammed. After that was double checked, still no movement from the machine. I figured it had to be an issue with the brains of the machine, the PLC. After much research I was able to find an appropriate link cable and software to tap into the PLC CPU unit and see what the issue was. Turns out the PLC programming goes into TEST mode if it sits for too long de-energized. I was able to switch the machine back into RUN mode with the link cable and software and the machine was now up and running! Woohoo!!

Now that the machine is running as it should I am able to test out the pump. Turns out it was totally gunked up and wasn't salvageable. Unfortunately there isn't a rebuild kit for this particular unit. I ended up buying a centrifugal pump with similar specs and its been working perfectly ever since.

Some things that I still need to address is the fine diamond dresser, still needs some work and replacement diamond.

All in all I am happy with the way the restoration came out. The machine runs strong and is ready to service more ski boards.

I am completely new to running this machine so its very much a learning process to know what settings are best. I would very much appreciate some tips and pointers from people that have used machines like this.
